We are the Tiger Band!
A Letter from Mr. Morris Brame!
The Spring Woods High School Tiger Band is one of the finest organizations at Spring Woods High School. The experiences students encounter as members of the band will remain with them throughout their life. We consider our band program a family. Not only do students have the opportunity to learn about music while working with others; they have the opportunity to experience the joy of performing to thousands of people. Our daily practices and performances enrich us in so many ways. Through hard work, dedication, and self-discipline, we will reach our common goals and along the way grow in self-confidence, self-esteem, and enjoy a feeling a joy of great accomplishment.
Being a part of the Tiger Band is an experience our students will never forget. Our marching and concert bands compete around the state, earning fantastic results. Though we enjoy success in competition, the SWHS Tiger Band’s philosophy is NOT one of competition only. We continue to stress the competition within ourselves, and we strive to raise the bar of our own expectations to meet the challenges that WE set for our groups. That is infinitely much more important than trophies and medals—if together we put forth a product we can be proud of and give our students a rewarding, positive experience, then we have truly succeeded.
The Tiger Band program is challenging. It takes hard work, dedication, and commitment. It requires time and energy outside of school, and it mandates that students maintain a professional work ethic and attitude. And yet, for all the work put in to the program, the rewards are returned tenfold. Students in the band make friends that will last a lifetime. As a member, the students learn leadership skills and personal skills that will help them in whatever they choose to do in your life. They learn to further their skills as a young musicians, and experience the wonderful power of MUSIC.

The Tiger Marching Band rehearses and performs during the summer and throughout the fall participating at all varsity football games. In the Spring, a concert and symphonic band is formed where the concentration is on competitive band literature. For the first time in many years, The Spring Woods High School Band was able to take 3 competitive bands to UIL Concert and Sight Reading. In October of 2016, the Tiger Band received Superior ratings at UIL Marching Competition qualifying them to advance to UIL Area Marching Competition.
Membership in the Tiger Band is open to those who have taken band previously at the middle school level.
The Tiger Band participates in three fundraisers a year. In the past, we have sold World's Finest Chocolate, Spirit Cups, Cookie Dough and Pretzels. These fundraisers are extremely helpful to the growth of out program.
